United States National Parks Web Quest

This year marks the 100th anniversary of National Parks! To celebrate, we are going to learn about the creation and history of national parks in the United States of America. We are going to be focusing on the history of the National Park Service and exploring a virtual national park. This web quest will give you resources to study the history.



Go to each of the following websites listed and answer the corresponding questions on a separate sheet of paper. Once you have completed all the questions on the guide, you will then choose a national park to focus on from the website provide and present it to the class. Have fun!


Website 1:

This is the National Park Services website that provides the history of the service in an interactive timeline. Use the timeline and the article beneath the timeline to answer these questions.

Website 2:

This website give the biography of President Theodore Roosevelt, who started the National Park

Services. Read about his life and his contributions to America.

3. What were some of his most effective achievements?



Website 3:

This website allows for you to take a digital tour of a national park. You can explore and learn by clicking on things with your mouse. You might want to wear headphones to get the full experience. Please explore at least one of the national parks.

Website 4:

This is the National Parks Conservation Association website. They work to conserve and protect national parks in the United States. At this website you will learn about this group and their story.
